On Tuesday I reached my 1 year anniversary with Slimming World! In that time, I have lost 2st 5lbs in total and I look at how far I’ve come and think ‘Wow Ali, your really doing well!’. I thought I’d celebrate this achievement by dedicating a post to my favourite meals created by Slimming World. It’s these recipes that have helped me to shift the weight off over the last year, so if you’re interested in joining or need inspiration, these just might spark your interest:
5. Beef Lasagne
I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that Lasagne is one of the best dishes in the world. I was delighted to hear that they had a Slimming World version. This is a great comfort recipe that’s tasty and fills you up nicely. This one seems to have a lot less sauce than most regular Lasagne dishes but it still tastes lovely. Don’t make the mistake I made when I first started by overlapping the Lasagne Sheets, it makes the pasta pretty hard to chew! I usually serve it with a few chips and/or some lettuce.
4. Classic Big Breakfast
This is without a doubt the easiest meal you can make, as it’s just the same as an ordinary fried breakfast with just a couple of tweaks. Just use Frylight, cut the fat off your bacon and you’re done! It’s as simple as that. It’s a great breakfast which can also be used as an all-day dish. I added some of the Syn-Free Sausages they have in the Slimming World range at Iceland. I grilled the sausage and bacon, but you can still oven cook or fry if that’s easier for you. I’ve also included a piece of wholemeal toast which counts towards my Healthy Extra B.
3. Meatballs and Tomato Sauce
I found this recipe when shopping in Iceland in the Slimming World area. I picked up the Syn Free Beef and Pork Meatballs, and on the back of the packet there was a recipe for a sauce to go with them. This is great because a lot of ready made pasta and meatball sauces are much higher in syns. I love Italian food as you may have established already! The sauce is so rich and goes really well with the meatballs. Sometimes I serve it with pasta as it advices on the packet for an extra free food bonus.
2. Syn Free Burgers
Yes you heard correctly, you can eat well and eat burgers! As you can imagine, it was like heaven to me when I discovered this. At the start of my journey, I wasted no time before making these. I personally prefer to make my own burgers with minced beef and diced onion, as I’m not as keen on the Slimming World ones. I put some lettuce and grated half-fat cheese (Healthy Extra A) with it and I serve them with wholemeal buns (Healthy Extra B)!
1. Crustless Quiche
This, without a shadow of a doubt, has to be my favourite Slimming World dish! I’ve loved quiche since I was little and I was so exited to try this recipe and it didn’t disappoint me. In fact I feel like I love it more than a lot of other quiches I have tasted. With a mixture of fat free cottage cheese and half-fat cheddar that I get from the Co-op, this recipe is great comfort food but without the calories. I put some tomato slices on the top and the juices from it run into the mixture which makes it taste amazing!
